Not So Fast Mr. Recession Pt. 1

There seems to be a lot of debate about the success of business ventures and our wonderful recession has magnified our worries. Everyone is looking for business solutions that work. Fortunately, there are many ways to stay successful even in this economic climate.  Rather than one long blog, this will be a series of blogs with things to consider.

My first thought was based upon something I heard on the radio this morning. The DJs were discussing Atlanta’s plan to shut down 1/3 of their public transit line.  The bottom line is that so much money is budgeted to the transit system (Marta) and Marta is not breaking even and losing money. The governement is making one key mistake here. They have not valued the transportation system correctly. They are looking at the cost of running the transit as an isolated business and just adding up the fare receipts. The problem is they don’t and won’t match. What they are forgetting to add in is the costs of not running the transportation. What does running Marta save elsewhere in traffic, pollution, time, city resources, etc…

The same goes to Google and Internet advertising.  If you think you’re going to spend $500 in a month and get $500 plus back immediately… you might, but you most likely won’t. But chances are that $500 may make you $5000 over time based on the overall value of a new customer. Unless you sell a product that people buy only once and they are ashamed to tell people about it, each client is worth more than just one sale. As well, when running a branding campaign, there’s a long term effect. Does McDonald’s run all those image ads to get more business? Do sales go up when they run a feel good spot? Not really, they key is that sales don’t go down and people think better about McDonald’s. They may beco0me a customer later when they see one or see the name.  They may choose McDonald’s over Burger King on their next trip. The same applies to your business.

When you add all of that up, isn’t a mere few hundred dollars worth it to get all of that? Ahhh… the power of Internet Marketing.

Hey guys check out the ALEXA ranking for AdzZoo on http://www.thelakenet.com, it shows the power of AdzZoo and its
ability to move our customers to the front of the line on the internet.
The internet is a river of fish (customers) swimming looking for what ever the’re searching for, AdzZoo cast a net across the river in front of the customers before the the big commercial fisherman can catch them, so the little fisherman (local small business) has a chance at catching the customers. The difference between a big business an the small business is customers.
