I can’t count how many people have come to me personally asking me to set up their Pay Per Click accounts and then show them how to manage and run it themselves (real quick over coffee or something). It’s probably as many people I know that go to a web site that “grades” other sites for SEO and then they think they are SEO experts.

When it it comes to Search Engine Marketing there is not definitive instruction and easy pattern to “make it work well”. Yes, there is a pattern to make it work, but in reality Slot A does not always fit into Slot B. Many times there isn’t a slot to be found that works well and you have to create one. Other times there are many slots it will fit into, but not the one that works best. I know there are hundreds if not thousands of blogs that will get you started, but then they leave you hanging as you spend money left and right. In most cases, you will spend much more than you want because you haven’t been trained properly. Most of us reading this blog can drive a car… but could you really handle yourself on the track at the Daytona 500? Some yes… but for most  – no you can’t. Professional drivers have not just learned what they need to know, they practice and study. Plus they keep abreast of  the innovations and constant rule changes.  They drive full time and study full time becasue they have to do it. That’s why Search marketing professionals do it – they have to! We practice, follow and create innovations, devour and analyze Google or Yahoo rule changes and become a student of changing human behaviour. One book or a training session will get you behind the wheel… but look out! Winning the race will be hard.

Simply put, in Search marketing, there rarely is a Slot A fits into Slot B situation.  As a matter of fact, Slot A, may fit into Slot B, Slot C and Slot Z. Also, each person you talk to may tell you different. But if you listen closely, while the professionals may be spouting their own opinions of how to get there, they are all headed to the same destination – a great return on investment! Search Marketing Professionals can take you there with the least pain, and each has their own way and the great ability to recognize which ways do not work. Use a Professional to save money, find or make the slots and win in the long run… Search Marketing professionals are professional slot makers!

If this blog, slightly jumbled and confusing… Yes it is. So is Search Marketing. I’m on a horse…
